The Vanagon Diaries is a passion project I started with my wife Keeley in 2016 after we purchased a 1989 VW Vanagon Westfalia which we affectionally call "Eddie". Eddie has seen significant modifications over the years to make it an extremely capable 2wd escape pod. We use the van to travel and document adventures which we share share on Instagram via @thevanagondiaries.
To this day the Volkswagen Vanagon is one of the most capable vans on the planet. Although finicky due to their age, there is a wealth of support and parts available to keep them going. Our van is equipped with a rear locker system to add traction in tricky situations. It's powered by a GoWesty 2700cc WBX engine with GoWesty EFI system. The van has a 2" GoWesty lift kit and Fox Shocks. It has GoWesty front and rear bumpers with "Swing-Away" arms off the rear bumper to carry a spare tire, spare fuel and a tray for our Traeger grill. We Have a Fiamma awning off the passenger side, an elaborate Thule rack system, a Cap-it LED light kit all around including two front light bars, Piaa LED lights on the front bush bar, Recaro seats with a passenger seat swivel pad, a Road Shower on the roof rack, an ARB 4X4 fridge, ARB onboard compressor, assorted Venture Libre storage solutions, Vanagon LED lights, Rhino Design spice rack and much more bells and whistles.
